Some photographers work in studios. Others disappear into the wild for weeks at a time, returning with images that make you feel the cold, the altitude, and the silence. On March 12th, two of those photographers are coming to Bilbao to tell you what that life is actually like.

NYA-EVO, in partnership with Pangea, Sony, and the Mendifilm Festival, is hosting an evening at the Pangea store on Indautxu Square in Bilbao. On the night of March 12th, Javier Aznar and Yhabril will take the stage to share their craft, their journeys, and the lessons learned along the way. Admission is completely free, until capacity is reached.

Pangea Bilbao: Where the Journey Begins

Pangea The Travel Store is one of the world's largest travel stores, with a 1,500m² space across three floors in the heart of Bilbao's Indautxu Square. Beyond planning bespoke trips with expert travel advisors, the Bilbao store runs a permanent programme of free cultural events — travel talks, photography exhibitions, book presentations, and workshops.

Doors open at 7:00 PM. Entry is free. but space is limited, so arrive early to secure your spot.

Meet the Speakers

Javier Aznar. Wildlife Photography in Extreme Climates

Javier Aznar (@javier_aznar_photography) is a Spanish photographer and biologist whose work focuses on natural history, wildlife conservation, and its relationship with humans. His photographs have been published in National Geographic Magazine, GEO, BBC Wildlife, and Ranger Rick, among other international titles.

His images have won some of the most respected awards in wildlife photography, including the Portfolio Prize at Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018 and the Overall Winner at the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2023. He is a Sony Alpha Ambassador, an Associate Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and a Fellow of The Photo Society.

Javier regularly lectures on photography and conservation at festivals around the world. At the Pangea event, he will be talking about wildlife photography in extreme climates. the subject he knows better than almost anyone.

Yhabril. Over a Decade on the Front Lines of Adventure Photography

Yhabril Moro (@yhabril) is an action sports and adventure photographer based in Villanúa, in the Spanish Pyrenees. For over a decade, he has been climbing into high mountain environments. often in harsh weather, at night, and carrying heavy gear. to photograph athletes and landscapes in their most raw and demanding states. His work spans snowboarding, skiing, and mountain sports, always with the environment as the true protagonist of the image.

He is a two-time winner of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest. widely considered the world's most prestigious action and adventure photography competition. taking the Photos of Instagram category in both 2021 and 2023. Both winning images were shot at Punta Malacara in the Pyrenees, and both required days of planning, precise timing, and an intimate knowledge of the location. He has also published a book, En los dominios de Collarada, a photographic record of the changing seasons, wildlife, and landscapes of the Pyrenees.

At the Pangea event, Yhabril will reflect on over a decade as a professional adventure photographer. what it costs, what it gives back, and why, after all those years in the field, the feeling of getting the shot you imagined is still exactly the same.
